CARVC launches free mobile app for public use
May 5, 2025 – Just in time for the summer travel season, the Carolinas Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (CARVC) has launched a new custom mobile app developed by App My Community.
The free app can be found in app stores for Android and Apple products by searching Camping Carolinas.
The app was first used as an event tool during CARVC’s annual conference and trade show this past February. Attendees had at their fingertips up-to-the-minute information about the schedule and announcements, as well as speaker bios, vendor contacts, and auction items up for bid. The app was also used for messaging attendees.
According to CARVC’s executive director Dee Witting, feedback from attendees about the app was so positive, it convinced the board of directors to greenlight expanding the app functions to include a public marketing component.
“The board saw the benefit of using the app for the conference,” said Witting. “With the expansion of content on the app, now our goal is to get more campers connected with our member campgrounds, along with our member suppliers and RV dealerships. And the app will still be used as a tool to help our members and suppliers with events and association services.”
CARVC Board President David Seaborn, owner of Myrtle Beach RV Park, concurs. “CARVC has partnered with APP my Community to create an app that we hope will put our member campgrounds in the forefront of Campers! We are encouraging camping customers to download and explore this new opportunity to find out more of what the Carolinas has to offer. There will be many ways campgrounds as well as suppliers can utilize this APP to advertise. We look forward to working with our members to shine the light on their businesses!”
Dee Moore, Director of Marketing for two North Carolina campgrounds (Mama Gertie’s Hideaway Campground and The Great Outdoors RV Resort) stated, “I recognized the app’s potential to reach a larger array of campers. As soon as banner ad enhancements were available for purchase, I jumped at the chance to purchase ads for both parks.”
Rose Duemig, a principal owner of App My Community along with husband Joe, says everyone has their phone at their fingertips, and the Camping Carolinas app will allow CARVC to keep its members in top-of-mind awareness with campers.
Duemig also noted, “We create mobile apps for RV resorts, campgrounds, chambers of commerce, cities and many other communities. The ability to communicate information in real time, like high winds and water outages, is invaluable in being pro-active and enhancing the guest experience.”
Travelers will be able to look up campgrounds by name or distance, and get descriptions, phone numbers, and website links to use for booking campsites. They can also request printed camping guides and see a digital guide via the app. Campground operators and suppliers can use it as a directory for events and members and leverage the app for their own advertising and app upgrades.
Witting says grassroots marketing for the app has already begun.
“Each of our member campgrounds and the RV dealerships in the Carolinas have been mailed a window cling featuring a QR code that will easily allow customers to download the app. We are encouraging them to put the window cling in an easily accessible public area. Information is on our website and social media, and we’ll integrate an app referral into future camping guides, too.”
