Dan Nicholas Park does not charge for visiting! We have many features of the park that are free. Other areas of the park can be visited for very small charges. Attractions Dan Nicholas Park is home to a campground, lake, carousel, train, gem mine, aquarium and nature center, animal habitats, and more. Picnic Shelters Dan Nicholas Park has 17 covered shelters available for rent. Eleven shelters will accommodate 150 people and six will accommodate 30 people. They are equipped with picnic tables and grills. There is a charge for shelter and picnic tables on Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays. You may call 704-216-7803 to reserve a shelter or picnic area. History Dan Nicholas Park was created originally with a gift in 1968 of 330 acres of land from Mr. Dan Nicholas, a local entrepreneur and philanthropist.
